The ALEX website is for teachers and really anyone who wants to use it. It is for people to exchange information and retrieve resources that are useful in learning. Some of the options on the website are: courses of study, WEB links, lesson plans, a search bar, personal workspace, professional learning section, podcast treasury, and ALEXville. Under the courses of study link, it takes you to options for all subjects such as mathematics, language arts, history, science and many others. Take mathematics for example, when you click on the link for mathematics it takes you to another page that has listed all the areas of math: Algebra I, II, Precalculus and so on. Say you choose Algebra - it will then take you to an info page where you can find different operations with instructions of how to do them.
Another good section for teachers is Lesson Plans. You can find different lesson plans for almost any subject. The lesson plans are typed out with instructions and objectives for the lessons. The lesson plans have materials needed, planning and preparation steps and many more options. This website is really good for teachers to visit because there are many more interesting and helpful resources listed on here.
ACCESS Distance Learning: Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators, & Students Statewide
The vision of ACCESS is: The State of Alabama will provide equal access to high quality instruction to improve student achievement through distance learning. It is available to all public high school students and their goal is to provide high quality education to ALL students. Basically, they use technology to reach students and provide them with really good instruction. They want to provide 21st century learning to every classroom grades 9-12 in Alabama in the future. Students log in on the ACCESS website to complete their courses. The courses usually last 20 days and can be done in the summer and other terms too.
Both of these websites are good accomplishments for education in Alabama. They both provide students and teachers with really great information. If they are used together, one by the teacher and the other by the student, a positive change can be made in the classroom.
